Better Covid advice for Local Authorities
Do not stay at home - walk or cycle
This is Winston Economics' own effort to improve Covid advice provided by Local Authorities, which we have developed in order to address the gaps in the government advice, which may contribute to the rise of infectious diseases.
Local authorities have published numerous ads around the country, which, however, focus only on:
1. clean your hands with anti-septic spray or gel
2. stay at home
3. work from home
4. and currently, there are also new ads appearing suggesting to let fresh air in
These are minimal ads, however, they have occupied the national space with their limited message impacting the understanding of what needs to be done. There is a lot more one should do to keep away bugs and viruses or bacteria, hence, we have decided to write about it for completeness to help the nation to become more aware.
This is the better advice, which should have been published in long text posters everywhere since 2019:
1. wash your hands | clean your hands with anti-septic gels or sprays
2. keep your distance
3. clean your home several times per week using anti-viral and anti-bacterial disinfectants, preferably those, which are eco-friendly (as you can imagine we now add more disinfectants to the environment than ever before!)
4. carry disinfectant wipes with you in your handbag and wipe all surfaces you want to touch | less of latex gloves, which sweat the hands, etc. You will be surprised how much dirt is everywhere. Choose biodegradable wipes, if possible
5. do not stay at home: walk as much as you can (easy to say now, but this should have been advised to you during the first lockdown and it was not) - you need to walk at least 30 minutes per day or more to keep healthy (NHS advice)
6. open windows in your home several times per day or during a whole day. Ensure that your whole home is properly ventilated.
7. address your other health issues.
8. plant a tree.
